C12–15 Alkyl Benzoate is a lightweight, fast-spreading cosmetic emollient ester used to improve the texture, application and sensory feel of skincare, haircare, sunscreen and colour-cosmetic formulations. It has a clear, almost colourless appearance with little to no noticeable odour.

It provides a smooth, silky and relatively dry after-feel, helping reduce the heavy or greasy sensation associated with richer oils and butters. It also improves product spreadability and helps formulations glide evenly across the skin or hair.

C12–15 Alkyl Benzoate is especially useful in sunscreen and makeup formulations because it can help dissolve crystalline organic UV filters and improve the wetting and dispersion of mineral pigments such as zinc oxide, titanium dioxide and iron oxides.

Formulation Guidance

Add C12–15 Alkyl Benzoate to the oil phase of emulsions or blend it directly into anhydrous products. The final percentage should be adjusted according to the desired level of slip, pigment dispersion, UV-filter solvency and reduction of greasiness.

Storage

Store in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight, excessive heat and moisture. Conduct stability and compatibility testing in the final formulation before commercial production.
